Chocolate Tea Bread

Delicious chocolate tea to enjoy with morning tea or coffee. This recipe uses all-purpose flour, eggs and chocolate chips and comes out fluffy and moist.

Yield: 1 loaf


  • 1-½ cup all-purpose Flour
  • ⅓ cups cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoons salt
  • ½ cups applesauce
  • ⅓ cups water
  • 1-¼ cup sugar
  • 2 whole eggs
  • ⅓ cups butter, melted
  • ½ cups chocolate chips


  1. Preheat oven to 175 C.
  2. Coat your loaf pan with oil and lightly dust with four.
  3. Place the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a bowl.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, sugar, applesauce and water and beat well until smooth.
  5. Fold in the flour mixture and beat until just blended
  6. Finally mix in the melted butter and chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the loaf pan and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it sit in the pan for 15 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Enjoy.
